Nordic Subcase 16-17 February 2012, in Subtopia / Sweden
Subcase – Subtopia Circus Fair takes place for the 4th time next February.

Subcase is a market place for contemporary circus, variety and street performance and will this time present a Nordic programme. Subcase 2012 is organised with the support of Nordisk Kulturfond and Kulturbryggan, and in cooperation between Subtopia in Sweden, Cirko – Centre in Finland, Finnish Circus Information Centre in Finland, Circus Village in Norway and Københavns Internationale Teater in Denmark.

Programmers from festivals and venues can register already. The programme for 2012 will be released 16 January.

Juggling the Arts – artistic laboratory, 20-24 February 2012 in CIRKO Center for New Circus / Finland
The next Juggling the Arts laboratory will be arranged in Helsinki’s CIRKO Center on 20-24 February 2012. 2-3 participants from each Nordic country are selected according to the applications. The focus of the lab is on the artistic research and multidisciplinary sharing between different forms of performing arts.

The Nordic circus book published primo 2012
NNCN has for the past years been working on a publication on contemporary circus with a Nordic perspective. The book outlines the new circus sector in the Nordic countries, including an overview of the development of the art form and is published by the Stockholm University during November 2011. “Contemporary Circus. Introduction to the art form”, written by Tomi Purovaara with articles from Camilla Damkjær, Stine Degerbøl, Kiki Muukkonen, Katrien Verwilt and Sverre Waage. Nordic Circus Year 2011: Nordic circus survey
The FCIC employed a young project researcher, Jutta Virolainen, to carry out a large survey on Nordic circus from different viewpoints during the Nordic Circus Year 2011.  The survey looks at Nordic circus from the perspectives and opportunities for children and youth, students, professional artists and companies, as well as structures and future challenges for the art form. This survey is now nearly finished and will be published as a PDF-publication primo 2012. It can then be found at websites Nordic-circus.org or www.sirkusinfo.fi – and can also be e-ordered from lotta.vaulo@sirkusinfo.fi

Other projects
The Nordic newsletter that reports on the circus activities in Scandinavia and Finland will be sent 3 times a year. The pdf-files can be downloaded from the newsletter archive.
